Petroglyphs of Arpauzen
Petroglyphs within the Archaeological Landscape of Arpauzen is part of the Tentative list of Kazakhstan in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
Petroglyphs of Arpa-Uzen features more than 3500 images on rocks in a gorge at the foot of Karatau mountain range and well protected from winds by nearby hills. It is an important testimony of the people inhabiting those steppes and semi-desertic region, but also of those passing as it stands on an ancient migration route. It dates from the Late Bronze to Early Iron eras.
